MEAL MATES

Tasked with building a company and pitching our ideas to an angel investor, my team—with whom I shared a passion for food and cooking—decided to develop a concept that was ideal both for passionate students who love to cook and for students looking for affordable meal options.

The goal of the Meal Mates app is to connect students to student cooks in the area as a way to get home-cooked meals that are affordable and convenient.

Built using Adobe XD, the app sees a slightly distinct interface with different features that vary depending on whether you’re using the app to buy or sell meals.

The platform relies on a strict security process, where all users need to verify their identity and their student status before they’re able to create an account. All cooks will be required to have a Food Handler’s License and proper training to cook out of our Ghost Kitchen, ensuring proper food handling and compliance with the law.

Students are then able to create a profile, which they can personalize to highlight their favorite cuisine types, any dietary restrictions they might have, and their preferred times for meal cooking or purchasing.

The main app interface allows users to view and save their favorite recipes, view a calendar of upcoming meals and time slots, rate and review their experience with each cook, and more.
